SUCCESS STORIES

About Our Sanctuary Dogs:

Pawsitively Pit Bull has been working with some of its dogs since 2000. And during that time, we've witnessed some amazing recoveries. Under our care and stable, pit bulls who were aggressive, disabled, injured, abused or diseased have become loving house pets, full of life and joy. The dogs that have been too traumatized by abuse and neglect, or are otherwise not adoptable, will live out their natural lives at the sanctuary, Camp Pit Bull. Here they have access to country fields, ponds, rivers, house time, and individual dog runs. We are planning an agility course and more fenced runs for them to play in.

The following dogs, currently in our Sanctuary, are animals we've adopted into our family permanently. They are animals that no one wanted, and because of that, they faced almost certain death. But with some love and patience, these animals now stand as examples of what is possible, and as reminders that the thousands that are euthanized every year need not die from apathy and ignorance.

SPONSOR DEISEL
DIESEL: Diesel was all over the local Portland area news in March of 2004 for biting a neighbor and her dog. We were, as usual, shocked at the sensationalistic fear-based news coverage of this story. The footage of Diesel was of a beautiful golden pit bull puppy behind bars, looking confused. The headline over the story was common, “Pit Bull Attack.” Whether or not this was actually what happened, all that watched... Read more about Diesel

SPONSOR NOODLE
DRUNKEN NOODLE: Drunken Noodle is by far our silliest dog. She always makes us laugh. She is an all white pit bull mixed with Dalmatian and maybe even Great Dane. She is completely deaf, as most all-white dogs are, and she has some neurological challenges. Her depth perception is not very good, and she cannot gauge the distance of a step, the edge of her kennel, or even where the water level is in the water bowl... Read more about Noodle

SPONSOR MAUI
MAUI: During our 2003 visit to Hawaii, we looked up the Maui Humane Society and drove out to visit. We were so impressed with their staff and program! They were doing amazing things with a huge amount of dogs, specifically pit bulls. There is definitely a Hawaiian cultural pride of pit bull ownership... Read more about Maui

SPONSOR FLEECE
FLEECE: Fleece is a female pit bull that we found at Clackamas County Dog Control in 2000. Her only issue was her complete deafness, as is common with dogs that are all white. Due to the misconception that deaf dogs are more aggressive or more difficult to train, she was not being adopted and would likely be euthanized. We had never encountered a deaf dog before...
